Saturday the 8th of August was destined to be a record smashing day with 848 auctions scheduled across the city.
Robert Ward of LJ Hooker Wahroonga encouraged sellers to put their homes up for auction on the eighth of the eighth month as it is considered to be an auspicious day for Chinese buyers. Mr Ward said of the North Shore, “There is a lot of Asian interest in the area and some particularly good schools,” he said.
The North Shore suburb of Turramurra set a new residential record with the sale of a grand 6 bedroom house on one of the area’s finest streets. The property was sold to an Australian resident after beating out another local couple and three Chinese buyers.
The property reminded Mr Ward of a previous sale he had in the North Shore suburb of Warrawee and he believes that it is a sign that the top end in the upper North Shore was starting to take off. He said, “We’re starting to see some good numbers at that end of the market.”
