The Northern Beaches was home to the highest clearance rates in Sydney and brought in five of the highest property prices in Australia.
Much of Sydney is feeling the boom slow down but that was not the case for suburbs like Avalon Beach, Bilgola, Balgowlah Heights and Elanora Heights. There were over 1220 properties going to auction in Sydney over the weekend and the northern beaches came in with an impressive clearance rate of 80.2 per cent based on 96 auctions.
David Mackay of LJ Hooker Avalon said, “With interest rates low and the Aussie dollar down to 70 cents US I can see no reason why the market can’t continue.” The LJ Hooker Avalon group sold the nation’s top auction property in Avalon Beach for $5.7 million.
“More and more people can now work from home and the northern beaches is the perfect distance from the city.” And the fact that Avalon Beach and Bilgola will be the first suburbs in Sydney to get broadband in 2016 has not gone unnoticed by savvy buyers.
Many of these savvy buyers also got a building and pest inspection report before purchasing a house or unit in the Northern Beaches.
