First homebuyers grant deadline approaching

Time is Running Out

QLD First homebuyers rush to secure $20,000 grant by June 30

First home buyers are racing around the clock to secure the $20,000 Queensland first home owners grant before it is cut by $5000 on June 30. Statewide there have been 4100 grants approved, totalling a whopping $82.5 million.

The current $20,000 grant is only available to people buying a new property, after the program which involved existing homes was scrapped in 2012.

Treasurer Curtis Pitt will urge first home buyers to sign up for the $20,000 boost, before it is decreased again on July 1, 2017.

“I want to make sure first home buyers know that this fund exists for them so that they grab this boosted $20,000 offer – an increase on the $15,000 previously available – while it’s on the table until the end of June and stimulate new construction and new jobs,” Mr Pitt said.

“These grants are helping Queenslanders achieve what otherwise they may not have been able to – the great Australian dream of owning your own home – while also generating jobs in the building industry and related sectors.”

So even though there is only a short time left, you absolutely can still get it done and get approval before June 30.”
