{"id":195,"date":"2015-10-28T13:32:16","date_gmt":"2015-10-28T03:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.inspectmyhome.com.au\/blog\/?p=195"},"modified":"2025-06-02T16:20:56","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T06:20:56","slug":"five-dock-town-centre-rejuvenation-delay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.inspectmyhome.com.au\/blog\/five-dock-town-centre-rejuvenation-delay\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Dock Town Centre Rejuvenation Delay"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Plans to refresh Five Dock Town Centre have been in pipelines since June 2014 and they\u2019ve just hit another problem with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadabay.nsw.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\">Canada Bay Council.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more-->The rejuvenation is set to take place on Great North Road in an area that comprises 290 businesses and 100 land owners. The area will be transformed into a greener and more pedestrian friendly space which will give business and the economy a boost in this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.inspectmyhome.com.au\/building-pest-inspection-sydney-inner-west.html\">Inner West<\/a> suburb.<\/p>\n<p>Home owners are set to benefit as well with the new thriving business centre, town square, enhanced street scapes and pedestrian and cycle trails.<\/p>\n<p>The hold up this time has been caused by a disagreement with the new building heights along Great North Road. The council received hundreds of complaints from locals at the suggested eight-storey limit and has sent out a report recommending a five to six storey restriction to maintain a \u201cvillage feel\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Helen McCaffrey says, \u201cWe\u2019ve got one chance to get this right. I\u2019ve had \u00adnumerous residents both for and against the various heights,\u201d and follows by saying, \u201cWe are mindful of achieving a balance in Five Dock.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an exciting time for residents of Five Dock and after over 2 years in the making owners are looking forward to the finished product.<\/p>\n<p class=\"read-more\"><a
